Mother beaten by stranger in front of ‘distressed’ children in Nine Elms

A mother was attacked by a stranger in front of her horrified children and husband on a south London high street.

The 42-year-old mum suffered injuries to her head and face in the attack by a woman on Wilcox Road, Nine Elms around 3pm on Tuesday.

The victim’s husband, who was inside a shop, came to her defence but was also attacked suffering minor injuries.

The victim’s two young children, although not physically injured, were extremely distressed after witnessing the attack on their mother.

The injured woman was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital; her injuries were not life-threatening.

Police arrested a 42-year-old woman nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

She was taken to a south London police station where she was eventually released under investigation.
