A hot and hearty meal is being offered up in supermarket cafés completely free to anyone who needs them this October. Morrisons supermarket is offering free Heinz Beanz meals to its customers in its cafes this October, and there is no catch.
The supermarket is collaborating with the baked beans giant to offer a hearty jacket potato with baked beans to any customer who "asks for Henry". The free Heinz Beanz meals will be available at all of Wales' Morrisons cafes from October 26, while stocks last.
The free meals will run over half term, offering much needed help to parents with their children off school and others in need during the cost of living crisis. The nationwide initiative was inspired by the work of Henry J. Heinz, founder of Heinz and a known philanthropist. From a young age, Henry would make food with his mother in their family kitchen, using ingredients picked from their garden, to share out to his local community. This young boy then went from good to great, founding Heinz and becoming one of the biggest benefactors of his time. He was often quoted as saying “give all you can wisely”.
Jojo De Noronha, president Northern Europe at Heinz said: "October marks the birthday of a very special member of the Heinz family, our founder Henry J. Heinz. Henry brought comfort and goodness to others, not just through his food but his actions. We want to honour his good heart and kind spirit by doing what he did best, helping feed people in times of need - and that’s why we’re launching ‘ask for Henry’ with our partner Morrisons on 26th October.
"We believe everyone deserves the goodness, comfort and warmth a can of Heinz Beanz can bring, and whilst we know it doesn’t fix the problem, we hope our ‘ask for Henry’ initiative can be of some help at this difficult time for many, particularly over half term.”
Sian Whittle, category director of Morrisons Cafés, said: “We know that our customers are under real financial pressure at the moment and are therefore pleased to be partnering with Heinz on its ‘ask for Henry’ initiative to offer customers a free jacket potato topped with Beanz.”
