Morrisons confirms major change to hundreds of products in price update

Morrisons shoppers should be checking their recent receipts in January to see if their average spending has gone down as hundreds of products have been slashed.

The popular supermarket chain has announced it will be reducing the price of essential products, reports Manchester Evening News. This change could see family food shops cost much less in the coming weeks.

The major retailer has revealed that from January 23, a total of 820 products will see their prices slashed, taking the total number of product discounts available to customers to 1,000 in just a month.

All of these price reductions will be locked for a minimum of eight weeks, as Morrisons continues to support its customers through the January squeeze and the ongoing cost of living crisis.

The reductions apply to products across the whole store, with prices cut and then locked on the likes of fresh produce and cupboard essentials - with an average saving of 20 per cent. Household brands such as Patak's, Dettol and Warburtons will also feature among Morrisons own brand range.

Items that have been reduced include the likes of:

  • fruit and vegetables
  • fresh meat
  • sandwich fillers
  • sweet treats
  • kitchen rolls
  • shampoo
  • washing detergents

Earlier in January, Morrisons announced that they had cut the price of 130 of their lowest Savers product range. This line of items included freezer favourites, fresh food and household essentials.

The retailer also offered five pence off a litre of fuel as an added promotion, highlighting its commitment to reducing prices wherever possible to support customers during this challenging time.

David Potts, Chief Executive, said: “Today’s cuts demonstrate our continued commitment to doing all we can to help when it comes to the cost of grocery shopping.

"In addition to the cuts we made to the Savers range at the start of the month and then our fuel promotion, we’re now cutting the price on even more popular products to help make a positive difference to the pockets of our customers.”
