Kentucky's confirmed measles total has passed 100, reaching 104 cases after the Laurel County Health Department confirmed seven infections on Oct. 9, according to WYMT's report on the Laurel County cases. The new cluster is in southeastern Kentucky, far from the western counties where most of this year's infections have been concentrated.
That shift in geography raises new questions for families around London, Corbin and nearby communities. Health officials have not said whether the Laurel County cases are linked to the western outbreak, and no ages, vaccination details or exposure sites for the new cases had been released as of Oct. 12.
