SC to look into plea to simplify adoption process
The Supreme Court on Monday decided to examine a plea to simplify the legal process for adoption of children in the country. A Bench led by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud issued notice on the petition filed by an NGO 'The Temple of Healing', represented by a petitioner-in-person Piyush Saxena, which said there were only 4000 child adoptions annually though there were "three crore orphan children in the country".
Rape, death of student in Nadia district creates furore in West Bengal

Plea to issue Aadhaar cards to those in final NRC list
The Supreme Court on Monday asked the government to respond to a petition seeking the issuance of Aadhaar cards to persons who have been included in the final supplementary list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. A Bench led by Justice U.U. Lalit issued notice to the Centre, Assam government and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on a plea filed by TMC leader Sushmita Dev.
