Filming on The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season five has reportedly been paused after a dispute between cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, with police confirming there is now an open domestic assault investigation involving the pair.
TMZ was first to report that production on the Hulu reality series had been “shut down” after an on-set argument between Paul and Mortensen became “intense enough that filming couldn’t continue as planned”. PEOPLE has since reported that, according to multiple sources, cameras have stopped rolling while the situation unfolds. “They are not filming,” one source told the outlet. “Taylor has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off.”
A spokesperson for Draper City Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE there is an active “domestic assault investigation” involving Paul and Mortensen, saying “allegations have been made in both directions” and that “contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24 and 25”.

The production pause comes just days after season four of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives landed on Disney+, continuing to chronicle the intertwined friendships, relationships and fallouts in the tight-knit Mormon influencer circle.
This is not the first time Mortensen and Paul have interacted with law enforcement. In early 2023, Paul was arrested in Utah after police responded to a domestic violence call involving the couple. She was later charged with two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, one felony count of aggravated assault, and additional misdemeanour counts including child abuse and criminal mischief. A probable cause statement alleged Paul threw “heavy, metal chairs” and a wooden playset at Mortensen, with one chair hitting her young daughter.

Paul has since said publicly that the charges were ultimately dropped and has described the night of her arrest as “the worst night of my life” and a “blessing in disguise” that forced her to reassess her life.
Season five of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives does not yet have a release date, and it remains unclear how long production will remain on hold while the current investigation continues.
