More Texans continuing to seek abortions out of state after Senate Bill 8, latest statistics confirm

Researchers from the University of Texas at Austin say their findings indicate that about 1,400 Texans are getting abortions each month at facilities outside the state after the implementation of Senate Bill 8, the nation’s most restrictive abortion law.

SB 8, enacted Sept. 1, bans abortion in the state after approximately six weeks of gestation.

According to data obtained from Texas Health and Human Services, abortions in the state dropped 60% from the previous month, The Dallas Morning News reported in February.
