Police say they are 'monitoring' the seas off the Ceredigion coast after packages which consisted of class A drugs were discovered at two separate sites near Aberystwyth. In a statement Dyfed Powys Police said on Tuesday night that the force was keeping a close watch on the water 'ahead of further adverse weather'.
On Sunday the force confirmed that a “significant quantity” of class A drugs had washed up on Tan-y-Bwlch beach on Saturday morning, which is about a mile south of Aberystwyth. The 30 black bags were first discovered by a walker and officers were called.
The man said the bags were all tied together with rope, interspersed with plastic jugs, presumably to keep the bags afloat. Police later confirmed that the bags were all thought to contain cocaine, and that they consisted of an “unusually large amount”.
