Oh yes, you read that headline correctly. The latest viral darling — Moo Deng the baby pygmy hippo — has predicted that Donald Trump will win the US presidential election.
On Monday, four-month-old Moo Deng was presented with two watermelon cakes which had the names of the nominees, Trump and Kamala Harris, carved into them in Thai. In a completely uncharacteristic move, our favourite moisturised diva waddled over to the Trump-inscribed watermelon and quickly started gobbling it up.
You can watch the moment below.
I know, I know, it’s shocking, to say the least.
Here’s what I’d like to know: by letting Moo Deng choose her political watermelon cake, are we suggesting that Miss Girl has psychic abilities? Or is this proof that we’ve got our viral princess all wrong and that she’s not the progressive bouncy pork meatball for the girls that we’ve all come to love?
On a spiritual level, I was positive that our favourite moiturised diva would be a Kamala Harris supporter if she could understand basic political policy. However, it seems that Miss Girl is either not for the girls, super anti-war or just thought the Trump fruit cake smelled better.
Who knows? Either way, Miss Moo Deng joins the ranks of thousands of people who are backing Trump to win the election.
Moo Deng — the sweet squishy hippo whose name translates to “bouncy pork” — is the new celebrity at Thailand’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo. She went viral shortly after she was born due to her incredibly rosy cheeks and shiny yet chaotic nature. It wasn’t long before she began attracting thousands of visitors to zoo each week.
Now, a live stream is set up so international fans can watch the IRL gummy bear thrive. However, if you’re in Sydney and want your own cheeky little dose of pygmy hippo, don’t forget that Taronga Zoo has its own little baby pygmy hippo named Lololi.
No judgement but I bet Lololi would eat a watermelon cake with Kamala on it. Just saying.
