‘Months’ before Rwanda flights begin as Channel crossings hit 7,000 for 2022

Flights sending migrants to Rwanda may not take place for months, Downing Street said, as the number of people crossing the Channel so far this year hit more than 7,000.

Number 10 was unable to say when the first flights sending migrants on a one-way trip to the east African nation would take off, in the face of criticism and legal action against the plans.
