GRACES QUEST looks ripe for a third victory of 2022 as she takes on five rivals for the Ayr Sunday Market At Ayr Racecourse Apprentice Handicap (1.50).
Jim Goldie’s daughter of Telescope has already had a fruitful campaign, including victories over an extended mile and a half at Musselburgh and a mile and three furlongs at Carlisle.
At Hamilton Park last time out, my selection proved no match for stablemate Wickywickywheels who romped to a four-and-three-quarter-length supremacy.
But the winner is a progressive horse and Graces Quest, for whom this one-mile, five-furlong trip looks ideal, is expected to go one better from the same British Horseracing Authority handicap mark of 67.
Later on the Ayr card, the figures add up for AUDIT in the Book Direct At Western House Hotel Handicap (3.35).
The son of Foostepsinthesand is currently 0-8, of which the last three attempts have been for Ruth Carr.
But Audit went within half a length and a neck of the bullseye at Catterick Bridge 12 days ago – and would have got even closer but for having to wait for an opening to mount his challenge.
His rating of 52 is unchanged and Audit stands out in a race that won’t take much winning.
