Moment hero Edinburgh bus driver stops to help struggling man across the road

A kind-hearted Edinburgh bus driver has been praised for helping an elderly man across the road after he realised he was going the wrong way.

The sweet moment was captured by a passenger on the number 26 bus near the Morrisons on Portobello Road, heading towards the city centre on Wednesday, March 8.

The passenger, Ms Williams, said the elderly man, with a walking frame, got on the bus before realising he was heading in the wrong direction. When he was getting off at the next stop, the driver kindly got out and aided him over the road.

Images taken from inside the bus shows the driver escorting the man over the busy road, and Ms Williams added how the bus "fell silent with approval."

She added: "The elderly man was sitting on the bus heading to the city centre when he realised he was going the wrong way. The bus driver advised he needed to get the bus the other way.

"So when he stopped at the next stop he helped the man off the bus and then went onto help him cross the busy road to wait at the bus going the opposite direction. There was no comments or opposition by the passengers on the bus. Just silent respect and approval."
