Liverpool superstar Mo Salah has compared his relationship with Sadio Mane to that attained by Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney when they were both playing for Manchester United.
The Old Trafford pair were often dubbed as the main stars in the United teams of the 2000s. Both club legends pushed each other on to excel in their individual performances, the duo fighting for the honour of being the club’s top scorer in any given season.
Salah likened it to the current situation at Liverpool between him and Mane. The Egyptian has now won the golden boot on three occasions after sharing this season’s award with Tottenham’s Son Heung-min.

Mane has also smacked in double figures in consistent seasons for Liverpool, and shared the 2018/19 golden boot with Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He is being touted for an Anfield exit this summer after six years on Merseyside.
Speaking to United icon Rio Ferdinand prior to his club’s Champions League defeat, Salah explained the dynamic between himself and Mane. “Look at the last four or five seasons with me and Sadio - we score too many goals, both of us,” he said.
“That helps the team, 100 per cent. I think maybe in your (Ferdinand’s) time maybe Rooney and Ronaldo was always like this.
“Everybody wants to be the better player or the superstar. As long as we don’t affect the way we play, it's always good for the team.”
