IMPHAL: The Manipur government has decided to extend the ban on mobile internet services in the state until November 8, as announced by officials on Sunday.
This decision follows a recent incident where a mob attacked a camp of the 1st Manipur Rifles with the intent to loot its armory, leading to security forces firing warning shots into the air.
The extension of the internet ban is based on concerns that individuals with malicious intent may exploit social media platforms to share images, hate speech, and incendiary video messages, which could potentially provoke public unrest and disrupt law and order in the state.
