The settlement, as reported by The Associated Press, resulted in MLB Players Inc. and FanDuel agreeing to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, preventing its refiling.
According to court documents, both parties will be responsible for their own attorneys' fees and costs related to the matter. FanDuel has been removed from the New York lawsuit, which also involved Underdog Sports. It remains unclear whether Underdog Sports has also reached a settlement in this case. The MLBPA has ongoing lawsuits against other online betting platforms.
This resolution marks the end of a legal dispute that centered on the alleged unauthorized use of MLB players' likenesses on the FanDuel platform. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed beyond the agreement for a voluntary dismissal with prejudice.
