GF Blends is recalling three baking products sold as gluten-free after independent testing found gluten well above the federal limit, according to the company announcement posted by the FDA. The recalled Truly AIP All Purpose Flour, Truly AIP Bread Mix and EAT G.A.N.G.S.T.E.R. Flat Bread Pizza Mix were distributed nationwide through the brands' websites, Amazon and retail customers up to September 12.
The problem began one step up the supply chain. The company said all three products were made with plantain flour from supplier PMF Global that was labeled and certified gluten-free, yet independent testing found gluten in that ingredient and levels in the finished products significantly above the FDA's limit of 20 parts per million. No illnesses or adverse reactions had been reported as of the September 17 recall.
