Mitch Trubisky throws TD pass after Steelers lose Kenny Pickett to concussion

Backup quarterbacks have to always be ready … no matter what has happened to put them in that role.

Mitch Trubisky was replaced by first-round pick Kenny Pickett as the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback.

On Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pickett, a rookie from Pitt, went out with a concussion.

Off the bench came Trubisky and he was throwing passes with a purpose.

One of them was zipped to Chase Claypool in the end zone.

The touchdown gave the Steelers a 20-12 lead over Tom Brady and the Buccaneers midway through the fourth quarter.
