CHENNAI: After her dreams of representing the country at the Paris Games were shattered, Tokyo Olympian CA Bhavani Devi is now grappling with both disappointment and a shoulder injury. The Chennai fencer was knocked out in the women's sabre semifinal at the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifying competition in Fujairah, the UAE, in April.
Bhavani, who became the first Indian fencer to compete in the Olympics a t Tokyo 2020, told TOI she was deeply affected by missing the global event. She had poured her heart and soul into training. "There was all this stress during these past few years and when you don't make it in the end, you feel sad and disappointed. I was not feeling well for some weeks and now slowly, I am recovering from that. Because I understand that I did my best, I just need to accept and respect my work and focus on the future," said Bhavani.
