The body of a missing Missouri mother of four, who disappeared six months ago, has been identified after being found in a wooded area in De Soto, Missouri. The remains of 33-year-old Emily Strite were discovered by a property owner on Frissell Road, about 45 miles southwest of St. Louis. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her identity through medical and dental records.
The cause of Strite's death is still unknown, and investigators are working to determine how her remains ended up in the wooded area. Strite was last seen on April 12 when she left a friend's house on foot. Her mother reported her missing eight days later.
According to Strite's mother, Charlyn McClain, her daughter's body was found close to the house where she was staying. McClain revealed that Strite had planned to visit her younger children in Cahokia, Illinois, on the day she went missing. Strite had a history of being in an abusive relationship with the father of her children, Steve Fults, but was not actively involved with him at the time of her disappearance.
Fults, who described his relationship with Strite as revolving around their children, claimed he had no knowledge of her plans to visit the kids on April 12. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office stated that there are currently no suspects or persons of interest in the case, as there is no evidence of foul play.
Friends of Strite remembered her as a vibrant and caring individual who always brought light into a room. They expressed a desire for justice and closure, emphasizing that Strite did not deserve to vanish without a trace. As the investigation continues, loved ones hope for answers and for those responsible for her death to be held accountable.
