Video from the scene showed a boat being lowered into the canal. At about 6.20pm yesterday, underwater teams found the body of a man, Greater Manchester Police has confirmed.

The force said an investigation has been launched and the man's family has been informed. Details of the man's identity or age have not been released at this stage.
