KANPUR: A minor girl hanged herself to death after being allegedly molested by a local hoodlum in Rasoolabad police area of Kanpur dehat district on Monday night. Police have sent the body for postmortem and started investigations in this regard. The police said that the allegations of the girl’s mother made in a complaint are being investigated.
According to the girl’s mother, as they all used to sleep on the roof of the house, her 14-year-old daughter had gone to the terrace to make bed arrangements on Monday evening. On seeing her daughter alone, their neighbour Shiv Singh reached there and grabbed her with an intention to sexually assault her. However, when she raised an alarm, the accused, after threatening her with dire consequences, fled the spot.
