The Minnesota Lynx defeated the New York Liberty 95-93 in overtime on Thursday night to take Game 1 of the WNBA Finals. The Lynx stood atop the Western Conference during the regular season and had the second-best record in the league overall, behind only New York.
But it’s Minnesota that has the advantage one game into the finals, and the loss left a star-studded crowd at Barclays Center quite disappointed. Among the celebrities in attendance was actor Jason Sudeikis, a major WNBA supporter and Liberty super fan.
The Lynx social media team couldn’t resist the opportunity to troll Sudeikis after the game, tagging him while posting a Ted Lasso clip in which Lasso declares the lynx his “favorite of the jungle cats.”

It was certainly a disappointing enough loss for Sudeikis and Liberty fans without Minnesota adding insult to injury. New York is seeking its first championship in franchise history and had suffered just one postseason loss through the first two rounds going into the game.
Minnesota, meanwhile, is in search of its fifth WNBA title and what would be the first since 2017.
