During the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders caucus meeting, Governor Walz commended Harris as a deeply kind, visionary, and effective leader, garnering excitement from attendees.
Walz attended four different delegate caucus meetings, making specific appeals to various groups to rally support for Harris. At the Black caucus meeting, he acknowledged the historical trend of White politicians seeking Black voters' support and highlighted the significance of having a Black woman as a leader this time, which was met with cheers from the crowd.
During the Native American caucus meeting, Walz emphasized Harris' commitment to honoring tribal sovereignty and his own efforts in Minnesota to advance native causes, including removing a depiction of a Native American from the state flag that he deemed racist.
Speaking to the Hispanic caucus, Governor Walz pledged to acknowledge the history of treatment of Hispanic communities in America, emphasizing the importance of recognizing both the good and the bad to strive for a more perfect union.
Walz is expected to make an appearance at the LGBTQ+ caucus meeting later in the day, continuing his efforts to garner support for Vice President Kamala Harris and promote inclusivity within the Democratic Party.
