In Mindy Kaling's new Netflix series, “Running Point,” Kate Hudson stars as Isla Gordon, the new president of the Los Angeles Waves, a pro basketball team with a long family history. Isla faces the challenge of proving herself in a male-dominated industry, not only to her brothers but also to players and executives who underestimate her.
The 10-episode season, set to premiere on Thursday, boasts a list of executive producers that includes Jeanie Buss, the president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss, who faced similar struggles in the NBA world, approached Kaling with the idea for the show about five years ago. Kaling, along with Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, serves as co-creator, writer, and executive producer.
