'Mind games' - Man City fans wary of Carlo Ancelotti comment ahead of Real Madrid Champions League clash

Manchester City supporters believe Real Madrid trio Karim Benzema, Rodrygo and David Alaba will all play at the Etihad Stadium despite Carlo Ancelotti claiming they were major doubts in his press conference.

Ahead of their La Liga clash with Getafe this weekend, Ancelotti declared none of the three men would feature before the City game. " We are quite good," the former Everton man explained.

"We have some doubts with some footballers who received knocks in Tuesday’s game. Benzema, Alaba and Rodrygo have still not recovered.

"[Dani] Ceballos and [Ferland] Mendy return, they can play tomorrow. The team is good and motivated to win tomorrow.

"The players who have doubts in tomorrow’s game are not going to play… and the mission is to recover them for that game [at City]. The physical ‘issue’ does not exist."

While normally a manager's comments on injuries would spark encouragement about their team being weaker ahead of a big game, MEN Sport's City supporters feel Ancelotti is lulling them into a false sense of security. Here is what some of the fans had to say in our comments section.

Kirhamblue: "All the players mentioned WILL play."

Neoblue: "Mind games they will all play."

Dazza71: "Red herring."

Malco: "Mind games again."

29&Counting: "Mind games by Carlo . He is resting them and fielding a weaker team so can't say he [is] resting them or will end up with a fine."

City hold a very slight advantage in the Champions League tie thanks to Kevin De Bruyne's equaliser in the Spanish capital in midweek. Vinicius Jr had given the hosts the lead with a fierce first half strike.
