Millionaire ex-Premier League club owner is stabbed while confronting masked intruders who tried to rob his £10million Mayfair mansion

Fawaz Al Hasawi -

Former Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi was stabbed after confronting masked intruders during a burglary at his London home, police have confirmed.

The 57-year-old Kuwaiti businessman was left with injuries to his neck and hands when suspects broke into his £10 million property in Mayfair earlier this month.

Mr Al-Hasawi is believed to have been asleep when the intruders entered his bedroom.

The suspects fled the scene, and it is not yet clear whether any items were stolen.

Images circulating online appear to show the former Premier League club owner sitting in a hospital waiting room with his hands bandaged.

Mr Al-Hasawi’s lawyers have urged police to provide further details about the incident, claiming that other visitors from the Arabian Gulf “fear facing similar incidents”, The Sun reported.

Met Police confirmed Mr Al-Hasawi’s injuries were not life-changing or life-threatening.

Enquiries into the burglary are ongoing.

Al-Hasawi owned Nottingham Forest between 2012 and 2017, having purchased the club from the estate of Nigel Doughty. He sold the club to Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis in May 2017.

The incident follows a recent burglary at the home of Manchester City defender Ruben Dias and his partner, television presenter Maya Jama, while they were away.

Premier League stars allegedly fear that someone they know is ‘tipping off burglars’ with several footballers worried following last month’s raid, according to The Sun.

In December, thieves fled Tottenham star Yves Bissouma’s mansion after stealing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of designer gear.

He recently spoke out about the “traumatic” incident, which saw watches, designer bags and jewellery stolen.
