A British millionaire who beat up his model ex-girlfriend and burnt her with an iron has been jailed in Italy.
Broker Ajaz Shah Hussain, 37, became obsessed with his 27-year-old ex when she decided to end their romance, an Italian court heard.
The fund manager - dubbed by Italian media as the "Lamborghini stalker" - was arrested in January 2021 after following the woman and lying in wait outside her parents' home in his golden sports car, which is estimated to be worth £150,000.
The woman, from the city of Rimini, had met Hussain - a married father-of-two - when she moved to Milan to look for a job as a model in 2018, the court heard.
Shortly after, the pair moved to London where he began showing his violent side, before they returned to Milan, according to Italian media.
But while living together in Italy, Hussain was accused of trying to choke the woman after beating her up with a red-hot iron.
After the woman broke up with him and returned to Rimini to live with her parents, Hussain began following her to try to convince her to get back together.
Witnesses claimed they heard him threatening to set his Lamborghini on fire and shouting that he would release a sex tape they had made.
Italian newspapers report that when he was arrested last year, the broker arrogantly told police officers: "You don't know who I am."
Images show his sports car being towed away by police after Hussain was detained.
Judges at Rimini Court sentenced him to four years and eight months in jail after he was found guilty of causing personal injury and assaulting a cohabitant.
Prosecutor Davide Ercolani said a "simple domestic appliance was turned into a lethal weapon" as he showed photos of burns suffered by the victim, Mail Online reports.
Hussain - who previously denied attacking his ex - was also ordered to pay €60,000 (£52,370) compensation.
He claimed the model's injuries had been self-inflicted and that the burn from the iron was an accident.
The young woman's lawyer, Umberto De Gregorio, said after the verdict: "We are happy. For us, this is a model sentence and it was not taken for granted that it would arrive."
The woman now lives in Rimini with her new boyfriend, Corriere di Bologna reports.
