Secretary of War Pete Hegseth‘s announcement that the execution by firing squad of former Army officer Nidal Hasan would be livestreamed for all to see was shocking even by the standards of the Trump administration.
Even repressive regimes like Iran and North Korea don’t actively livestream executions, but Hegseth (via The Guardian) said it’s important for the United States to do so: “We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public, because people need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things.”
