Miles Caton shares Sinners cast reaction to historic Oscar 2026 nominations

Miles Caton has shared the cast of Sinners reaction after the film made Oscars history with a record-breaking 16 nominations.

The vampire horror, directed by Ryan Coogler, has become the most nominated film in Academy Awards history, surpassing the previous record of 14 nods held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land.

Michael B Jordan is up for leading actor, while British-Nigerian star Wunmi Mosaku has landed a best supporting actress nomination. British-born Delroy Lindo is also recognised in the best supporting actor categories.

The film has been shortlisted across a wide range of technical and creative fields, including casting, cinematography (Autumn Durald Arkapaw), costume design (Ruth E Carter), editing (Michael P Shawver), and make-up and hairstyling.

Coogler is nominated for both best director and writing, Ludwig Göransson is up for best original score, while the track I Lied To You is in the running for best original song.

Sinners has also secured nominations for best picture, production design, sound and visual effects.

“The chat is jumping right now,” Caton, who plays Sammie Moore in the flick, tells the Standard. “We're literally texting in the chat right now. Everybody's texting in the chat.”

Reflecting on the recognition for his co-stars, Caton, who is himself nominated for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award next month, said: “I'm so, so proud of them.

“I mean me getting to, you know, even with this being my acting debut, me getting to be on set and work with people that I grew up watching.

“And getting to see Delroy [Lindo]'s process on a day-to-day, see what he was doing behind-the-scenes, and what Wunmi [Mosaku] was doing behind-the-scenes, and Mike [Michael B. Jordan] was doing behind the scenes, all the work that they put in.

“They deserve it. I saw it firsthand, so it just hits different.”

The film has already enjoyed a dominant awards season.

At the Golden Globes earlier this month, Sinners won best original score for Göransson and the prize for cinematic and box office achievement, alongside further nominations for Coogler and Jordan.

It has also picked up major wins at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, the US National Society of Film Critics Awards and the Dublin Film Critics’ Circle.

Coogler’s 2025 film also became a rare box office phenomenon, taking around $368 million worldwide on a budget of $90–100 million, and emerging as one of the most successful original films of the decade.
