Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher to match £2.25m Ukraine donations amid war with Russia

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have announced they are prepared to match donations of up to $3 million (£2.25 million) to help supply humanitarian aide to Ukrainian refugees.

The Hollywood stars are the latest power couple to pledge their generous financial support to those who are caught up in the "devastating" conflict.

Mila, 37, was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, and said in a video appeal there was "no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity".

She said: "I have always considered myself an American, a proud American. I love everything this country has done for myself and my family.

"But today I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian.

"The events that have unfolded in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity."

Her husband and former co-star on The '70s Show Ashton, 44, said: "While we witness the bravery of the people in the country she was born in, we're also witness to the needs of those who have chosen safety."

The Two And A Half Men star added that "logistics" was the principal challenge, getting housing and supplies into the area.

And the pair have said they will match any donations made to rental company AirBnB and freight transporter Flexport up to an amount us $3 million (£2,250,000).

The company's aim to raise $30 million (£22.5 million).

Mila added: "The people of Ukraine are strong and brave but being strong and brave doesn't mean you're not worthy of support.

"We need to support the people of Ukraine."

Within just three hours of going live, the page had raised over $2.5 million after they received a large offline donation which was attributed to the Ron Conway Family.

As well as Mila and Ashton, other celeb couples have also pledged financial support.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively previously pledged to match donations up to $1 million (£750,000) to support the growing number of Ukrainian refugees.

The pair also urged members of the public to donate to humanitarian charity US For UNHCR to help the thousands of citizens displaced by the conflict, and said they would double the support shown.

Russia's invasion is continuing to unnerve the world as the country took aim at Ukraine's nuclear plants on Thursday night.

As news broke of the attacks, Piers Morgan took to Twitter to share further concern at the situation.

He quote tweeted a comment regarding the attack and commented: "My God... what is Putin doing? This is insane."

In an address on Thursday evening, Putin said the military operations were going to plan before he accused Ukraine of using its citizens and foreign students as human shields.
