At the start of the transfer window, I was one of many Arsenal fans desperate to see the club move swiftly for Youri Tielemans. The opportunity to get him in a cut-price deal just seemed too good to turn down and although part of me is still open to the move, is he really the type of profile we need in midfield? I'm not so sure anymore.
Two new arrivals have changed my stance on this - Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira. We haven't seen the latter in action yet due to injury but it's well known that he can operate in various positions, including as a No.8. The Portugal U21 international often played there for FC Porto, picking up the ball in the middle of the park before driving forward to create chances.
That's what Vieira is, he's a creator and a goalscorer as his 20-goal contributions from last season prove. Tielemans is also known more for his attacking outlay and possession-based qualities rather than his defensive work rate, so in terms of both players' strengths, there's not much of a difference.
