Arsenal’s transfer window has been pretty spectacular from an incoming point of view as Edu has signed four new players so far in the summer, however the same cannot be said with the frequency of outgoings with no new sales outside of agreed loan moves which saw Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavropanos leave the club.
Jose Mourinho could be the surprising catalyst for Arsenal outgoings this summer after having talks with Lucas Torreira which was confirmed by the player himself. The pair spoke about the possibility of the Uruguayan joining Roma.
Torreira has been tipped to leave the club for the last three seasons after falling out of favour when Mikel Arteta took over as Arsenal boss in December 2019. With a move to Fiorentina breaking down earlier in the window, Mourinho may provide the Uruguayan with a way out.

In a recent interview with Punto Penal, Torreira announced his desire to move away from the Premier League. More interestingly, in the same interview he confirmed that he had talks with Jose Mourinho highlighting a possibility of a move to Roma.
“Roma is a possibility for me,” said the Arsenal man. “I spoke with Mourinho a while ago, he’s a coach I admire a lot.”
“It’s an opportunity that appeals to me very much,” he added. “But it’s not easy.”
Mourinho had already been targeting another Arsenal midfielder in Granit Xhaka, and a move looked possible last summer but broke down at the final hurdle as Roma could not match the Gunners’ asking price. The legendary manager has a better chance at signing Torreira from Arsenal instead.
Torreira has recently made no secret of his desire to join Fiorentina on a permanent basis but the Serie A side have performed a U-turn over a potential deal as it was reported by football.london towards the end of last season they were in negotiations with Arsenal to activate the option to buy the midfielder for around £13million.
Fast forward a few months and the 26-year-old has confirmed that Fiorentina have decided against taking up the option to turn his deal in to a permanent one with the midfielder suggesting his move was prevented by "those acting in a bad way".
"Unfortunately, the time has come to say goodbye," Torreira wrote on Instagram. "It is with great sadness that my relationship with ACF Fiorentina ends. Club that gave me so much love and support all this time. From the beginning they made me feel at home. I discovered a wonderful city that was always kind to me, both on and off the pitch."
Torreira has thrived in the Serie A during the course of his career with successful spells at Sampdoria and Fiorentina. Mourinho has an excellent chance to extend this run for Torreira by signing the midfielder who is available for a transfer.
