Mikel Arteta's intentions with next £40m transfer sends Eddie Nketiah important Arsenal promise

Eddie Nketiah scored four goals in the last four games leading up to the north London derby as he has started showing how crucial he is to the team. The Gunners were in poor form before he was given the chance to lead the line for Arsenal, but Nketiah’s impact on the side has helped the Gunners find form at the perfect time.

Nketiah has been in excellent form. Despite this, Arsenal are still searching for a striker as the Gunners are hot on the tail for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, with the Brazillian reported costing around £40m.

If Nketiah decides to sign a new Arsenal contract ahead of next season then Jesus and the Englishman could be the Gunners’ striker options. Bailey Keogh and Josh Williams discussed the potential partnership of the two forwards on the Arsenal Way’s Analysing Arsenal show

Josh looked at the play styles of both Nketiah and Jesus and how their similarities could benefit Arsenal. “ Premier League history, in general, has seen a mixed style of players up front, with Manchester United being the example in Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney, and Chicharito.” He said.

“But I think generally if you are building a squad and building a philosophy, which Arteta seems to be doing where not much changes every week, then you want two strikers ideally who can take each other’s place without the system changing.

Williams continues to speak about the similar play styles and touched on how it has benefited Liverpool by utilizing this pattern.

“Liverpool have been benefiting from this a lot. For years we didn’t really have depth, but now not only do we have depth, but clones of every player and in every position. "He said.

“[Kostas]Tsimikas is similar to [Andrew]Robertson, [Luiz] Diaz is very similar to [Sadio] Man, so you have players across the board who can just swap places and the system doesn’t change. If Arsenal are going to be competing in European competitions next season, then they will need players who can swap with a regular starter, but the system stays the same.
