Mikel Arteta makes major decision over Arsenal future amid PSG approach

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly attempted to convince Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to become their new head coach after failing to finalise a deal for Julian Nagelsmann.

According to RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 champions have resorted to considering a move for the Gunners chief after months of speculation linking them with numerous coaches. PSG are said to be looking to replace Christophe Galtier following a single season in charge.

The report claims sporting director Luis Campos has held talks with Arteta in the hope of luring the Spaniard to France. It comes after the 41-year-old enjoyed his best season in coaching to lead the Gunners within inches of breaking Manchester City's Premier League dominance.

Fortunately for Arsenal supporters, Campos is described as being 'pessimistic' about his chances of convincing Arteta to move. The former midfielder spent the 2001/02 campaign on loan in Paris prior to his move to Britain, appearing 53 times.

Arteta's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in 2025 having signed a new deal just last year, meaning the French giants will face a big task in convincing the Gunners boss to drop his project in north London to move to the French capital.

RMC Sport also indicate that Campos will not make the final decision on appointing a new manager and talks with Arteta only took place to discover his stance on the move.
