Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal are working to tie his backroom staff down to new contracts.
Arteta penned a new deal with the Gunners back in September, keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2027.
The Spaniard’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of this season, which is still the case for his backroom staff.
Arteta, however, has confirmed that Arsenal are working to change that and get his coaches tied down to fresh terms.
Arteta has developed a core coaching group during his time at the club, which includes assistants Albert Stuivenberg and Carlos Cuesta, first-team coach Miguel Molina, goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana and set-piece specialist Nicolas Jover.
“We all tried to do it at the same time,” said Arteta. “It is difficult because four or five people committing at the same time is not easy to do.
“I am so happy with them and I value them at the highest level. I want to continue together so hopefully it will be resolved very soon.”
One of the key figures in Arteta’s backroom staff is Jover, who has transformed how effective Arsenal are from set-pieces.
The Gunners have scored 22 goals from corners since the start of last season, which is more than any other Premier League team.
“I had to do a lot of digging,” said Arteta, when asked how he discovered Jover. “But in relation to that and the individual development, it is an area that was not explored enough in my opinion.
“It was one of the evolutions the game was going to have and (we) try to always be ahead to maximise those opportunities.
“Probably when I was a player [I saw the value in set-pieces], because I understood at Everton how important they were and how difficult it was for the opposition.
“When I came here as well we had a period in some big matches where we suffered and were out. I went to [Manchester] City and immediately realised we had to do something about it.”
