Mike Vrabel talks Titans’ potential interest in Jaxon Smith-Njigba

The Tennessee Titans made their presence felt at the Ohio State Pro Day, with as many as seven members of their staff reportedly in attendance for Wednesday’s workouts.

Head coach Mike Vrabel was among those that were in attendance, and he got a front-row seat to watch the phenomenal Buckeye prospects work out.

Vrabel did speak with Kellyanne Stitts of WSYX and was asked specifically about Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and if he could be a nice complement to Treylon Burks. Here’s what Vrabel said:

“Of course,” he said. “I mean, I think we’re looking for guys that can get open, that catch the ball, that do things after it, that can create separation. Absolutely.”

When asked what specifically impressed him about the Ohio State receiver, Vrabel spoke about his versatility.

“Well, I think his ability to work inside, I think he’s got some ability to work outside. So, it’s just early on in the evaluation process,” concluded Vrabel.

As far as who else the Titans were looking at specifically during the event, Vrabel said “all of them; anyone who can help us.”

The Ohio State product figures to be on the short list of realistic candidates to possibly be selected with Tennessee’s first-round pick.

Smith-Njigba is a true playmaker who is capable of producing ridiculous numbers out of the slot when he’s fully healthy, which, by all accounts, seems to be the case again.

What separates the Ohio State product from his peers is the fact that he is a bona fide technician when it comes to his route-running. JSN is a master at creating separation for himself despite not having elite top-end speed.

Smith-Njigba’s presence would instantly give the team three competent pass catchers with true high-end upside.
