Kenny Pickett exited with an injury the fifth game of his short career, this time a high ankle sprain that required surgery Monday morning.
The injury occurred after another errant snap by center Mason Cole (who had multiple on the day). As protection broke down, Pickett saw an opportunity to score and took it. Unfortunately, he fell short of the goal line and further injured his ankle in the process.
Mike Tomlin addressed the topic in a press conference on Monday, sharing that the surgery was completed to speed up the healing process.
Mitch Trubisky, who threw for 117 yards and a touchdown versus the Cardinals, will start the “Thursday Night Football” matchup against the New England Patriots which boasts a top-10 defense.
