Mike McDaniel confirms that Teddy Bridgewater will be the backup

When the Miami Dolphins signed former Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a one-year deal at the start of free agency, it wasn’t completely unexpected, as they had stated that they were looking for a veteran backup on the market.

However, when the move was reported many questioned whether or not there was a chance of a quarterback competition in training camp or Bridgewater actually just being brought in to be the starter. The former Louisville Cardinal was actually asked about it at his introductory press conference and was keeping his conversations regarding his role between himself and the coaching staff private.

On Monday, at the coaches meetings, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about Bridgewater’s role in their offense, and he gave a straight answer.

So, that should put to bed some of that speculation, but with the way that Tua Tagovailoa’s career has gone to this point, the questions will probably keep coming.
