Midlands art gallery group expands with Solihull launch

A Midlands art gallery group has expanded by adding a third site to its portfolio.

Aura Fine Art has opened a two-floor branch in the Touchwood shopping centre, Solihull, replacing the former Eaton Gallery. It joins the company’s venues in Stratford-upon-Avon and Nottingham.

Aura Fine Art was founded by Elizabeth Parnham who worked for a large art publisher in Europe before realising her dream of starting her own business. The new Solihull branch has so far created three new jobs.

Gallery manager Bastien Da Silva said: "We’re very excited to bring back to life an art gallery that was already existing and also being able to bring to Solihull a touch of local as well as renowned artists to discover."

Among the artists at the gallery is Nigel Cooke, who has used the streets of Solihull as inspiration for some of his work, Birmingham-born artist Gary Benfield and Dale Bowen from Staffordshire who is known for his harbour scenes.

Touchwood general manager Tony Elvin added: "We’re really excited to welcome Aura Fine Art. The centre is at 96 per cent occupancy which is higher than pre-pandemic.

"Solihull has proved to be more of a recession-proof location and we are always seeking to bring in new businesses."
