Mid Ulster councillors reject King Charles coronation events

Local representatives in Mid Ulster District Council have rejected a motion calling for the body to host events to mark the coronation of King Charles III later this year.

The monarch acceded to the throne following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II last year, with the coronation to take place on 6 May.

A motion brought forward by DUP councillor Clement Cuthbertson for the council to host a series of ‘meaningful and respectful’ events to mark the occasion was voted down at a full council meeting on Thursday.
