Organisers initially said they would seek "urgent advice from the local authorities to help us in the decision”, but later in the evening chairman Davy McCartney announced the race would proceed following discussions with “club members, competitors and most importantly residents of Clough village”.
On Friday morning a further statement was issued confirming the Mid Antrim - which is returning for the first time since 2016 - will go ahead.
The statement read: "After considerable talks with all the appropriate authorities The Mid Antrim 150 road race will be going ahead. This a decision that has not been taken lightly.
"We will be paying tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II throughout the weekend. We hope that everyone can respect our decision."
Northern Ireland’s Wilson Craig Racing Team withdrew from the event on Thursday night “out of respect for HRH Queen Elizabeth II”.
The team added: “We would like to thank the club for their efforts and will hopefully return next season."
Meanwhile, Dungannon rider Ryan Farquhar has pulled out of the parade laps due to be held on Friday and Saturday.
He said: “I was so looking forward to getting a spin round one of my favourite road races, out of respect I’m giving it a miss. Hopefully next year.”
