Alex Pereira finally caught the wrath of Israel Adesanya in Saturday’s UFC 287 headliner.
After picking up three wins over Adesanya (24-2 MMA, 13-2 UFC) in kickboxing and MMA, the most recent being his title-winning TKO at UFC 281 in November, Pereira (7-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) saw his perfect run against his rival halted in the form of a second-round knockout at Kaseya Center in Miami.
The loss puts Pereira in a curious situation, because both Adesanya and UFC president Dana White said post-fight that his future likely sits at 205 pounds.
