Michigan State has officially fired embattled football coach Mel Tucker, the school announced Wednesday, formally ending his tenure at MSU after a sexual misconduct scandal went public earlier this month. While the legal fight over the roughly $75 million remaining on Tucker’s lucrative contract will likely continue, the school is free to move on in its search for a new coach for the 2024 season.
Michigan State released a statement, saying Tucker was terminated for his “admitted and undisputed behaviors which have brought public disrespect, contempt and ridicule upon the university; and constitute a material breach of his agreement, and moral turpitude.”
