Michigan State was able to knock off Western Michigan in the first game of the First Pitch Invitational II this weekend, but their fates changed in their second outing.
The Spartans dropped a game to Western Carolina, 9-5, on Saturday.

It was a tight, 2-2 game, heading into the 7th inning when WCU exploded with 7 runs, taking a 9-2 lead. The Spartans rallied for 3 runs in the 9th, but couldn’t push anything more across.
MSU drops to 5-8 on the season and will conclude their weekend on Sunday against VCU.
