Michelle Heaton had the support of her very proud family in the audience as she narrowly avoided a massive setback in the first week of her Dancing on Ice journey, by escaping the dreaded skate-off.
Liberty X star Michelle has been very open about how much being given the opportunity to do Dancing on Ice means to her, having previously turned down an invite to do the show, as she battled her alcohol addiction.
Michelle went into rehab facility The Priory in 2021, after her issues escalated during lockdown, and, in the last two weeks, has spoken out how it not only gave her a 'second chance' at Dancing on Ice but also a second chance at life, as she soon celebrates two years sober.
The Gateshead born singer stepped onto the rink for the first time alongside pro partner Lukasz Rozycki on Sunday night, with the pair skating to Shania Twain song, Waking Up Dreaming, having had a good luck message from the singer herself.
As the music ended, the camera cut to Michelle's family, with husband Hugh, daughter and son Faith and AJ and her mum cheering for her. Sadly for Michelle and Lukasz, the response from the judges was lukewarm at best, with them ending up bottom of the leaderboard on 19 out of 40, as viewers claimed the judges were 'too harsh' with their scores.
Crucially, it was viewers who had the deciding wait and, while she faced an agonising wait alongside Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu to find out who was in the bottom two, it ended being Ekin-Su whose place in the competition was put in danger, as Michelle was called safe.
Michelle looked in shock as she made it through, turning to Lukasz with a face full of relief and surprise.
