Michael Beale makes promise to Rangers fans after 3-0 Old Firm win over Celtic

Michael Beale has promised to build a stronger Rangers for next season after seeing his side cruise to a comfortable Old Firm win over Celtic.

Goals from Todd Cantwell, John Souttar and Fashion Sakala earned Beale a first derby win as manager at the fourth attempt.

There was nothing on the line in terms of silverware for Rangers but a raucous Ibrox crowd savoured an encouraging performance as Ange Postecoglou's side were well beaten.

And boss Beale will now look to transform his squad from challengers into champions as he prepares for a hugely significant summer on and off the park.

Beale said: “I thought the crowd pushed for it. I thought the crowd were outstanding at the start of the game and that gave the team extra energy, on top of the motivation that we gave each other.

“I thought we started the game really well and we took a chance, a similar chance we have missed in two games against Celtic this year. We got off to a good start.

“I thought the first 15 minutes both teams went hell for leather and that is what this fixture is known for.

“I thought the big moments today went for us and in the other games this season they have got for Celtic. We have made mistakes and they have punished us, we have had chances and missed them.

“They had a chance and hit the post. They made a mistake today and we punished them for the third goal. I thought it was a good game and I thought my players gave a real good performance.

“I have got all the belief and faith in it regardless. But I think what it does is that it gives the fans a lot of oxygen over the summer and something for them to hold on to and believe in moving forward.

“They have had a tough season. I thought they were outstanding today. We will promise to build a stronger Rangers next year and come back and try and do them proud.

“Today, that is how I want Rangers to come across to the outside world in terms of the energy and passion in the stands and certainly on the pitch as well.”
