Micah Parsons: Rams’ 3-4 record ‘doesn’t show how really good they are’

The Los Angeles Rams will have to deal with Micah Parsons this weekend as they attempt to keep the dynamic edge rusher away from Matthew Stafford and out of the backfield. That’s no easy task, but Parsons expects the Dallas Cowboys to be tested on Sunday, too.

Having watched film of the Rams and watching Matthew Stafford play, he sees a team that’s better than its 3-4 record. Parsons told reporters this week that Stafford can “make all the passes” and that the Rams are “really good” even though they’re below .500.

“He’s a Super Bowl champion,” Parsons said of Stafford, as transcribed by Cowboys Wire. “He knows how to make all the passes, all the reads, look you off, things like that. Super dynamic. The [3-4] record doesn’t show how really good they are. We’ve definitely got our hands full going into this Sunday.”

The Rams should probably be better than 3-4 this season if not for a second-half collapse against the 49ers, a blown first-half lead to the Eagles and getting outscored by the Steelers, 14-0, in the fourth quarter on Sunday. No one is saying they’re one of the three or four best teams in the NFC, but it feels like they’re better than a 3-4 group after seven weeks.

Regardless of their record, the Rams could find themselves in a much deeper hole if they can’t beat the Cowboys on the road Sunday. They’d fall to 3-5 with one more game before their bye, a Week 9 matchup with the Packers that’s also on the road.

In order to win this weekend, Los Angeles has to take care of its Parsons problem, which is one of many challenges when facing the Cowboys.
