The Jose Peseira era kicks off today as Nigeria face Mexico for an international friendly in the United States.
After suffering World Cup heartbreak at the hands of Ghana in the spring, the Super Eagles look to the future with friendlies against El Tri and Ecuador before two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, against Sierra Leone and Mauritius.
Peseiro laid out his ambitions ahead of the internationals, tweeting: “We will work with great ambition, so that in the end we can finally call Nigeria the ‘four-time African champions’.”
Mexico will be in Qatar this winter and can continue their preparations with Stateside games against Nigeria, Uruguay and Ecuador before the start of their Nations League campaign.
