Mexico, Iceland and other countries you can visit this Easter with no covid rules

People across Scotland and the UK will be looking forward to going abroad this Easter for a holiday — with many not having left the UK since before the pandemic.

With travel restrictions easing at home and abroad, and tourism beginning to open up again, there has been considerable demand for holidays abroad.

While some countries still have some covid measures in place, such as proof of vaccination, there are many that have no restrictions for tourists.

Visiting countries such as Mexico, Iceland, Denmark, Romania, and Norway, you don't need to worry about self-isolating or showing a vaccine passport.

As reported by Wales Online, here is a roundup of holiday destinations you can visit this Easter that don't currently have covid restrictions in place.

Ireland

People who are headed to Ireland this holiday season do not need to present evidence of vaccination, recovery or a negative covid test — nor is there a requirement for a passenger locator form.

If you find yourself developing covid symptoms whilst in the country, you should obey HSE guidelines relating to isolating and taking tests as appropriate.

Hungary

Hungary dropped all covid measures back on March 7, and as such there is no requirement to present proof of vaccination or a negative test before entering the country.

Romania

Similarly to Hungary, Romania dropped all covid travel restrictions on March 9, meaning you are no longer required to quarantine or test before arriving in the country.

Poland

The obligation to quarantine upon arrival in Poland was dropped on March 28, and you are no longer required to show evidence of vaccination.

In addition, a pre-departure test is no longer needed for travellers arriving from non-Schengen countries, including the UK.

Denmark

Entering Denmark requires no covid related requirements regarding test or self-isolation.

Norway

In Norway, the entry requirements are the same for all travellers, whether they have been vaccinated or not.

Iceland

No covid related travel restrictions are in place for Iceland.

Montenegro

There is no need to provide your vaccination status or a negative test result for entry to Montenegro.

Slovenia

You no longer need to provide proof of your vaccination status for entry to Slovenia.

Lithuania

British nationals travelling to Lithuania from the UK are no longer required to prove their vaccination status, recovery from covid or have a negative covid test result on arrival.

Madeira (Portugal)

It is advised that travellers fill out a passenger locator form before travelling to Madeira and Porto Santo — and those with children under the age of 11 should include their details in the form.

There are no other requirements for entry to Madeira and Porto Santo.

Mexico

Although there are no covid-related entry requirements for UK tourists visiting Mexico, you will still be required to fill out an immigration form — which will be needed upon arrival and departure.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica has scrapped its travel insurance requirements related to covid - the last of its covid travel rules. The UK Foreign Office does, however, say "the authorities in Costa Rica may restrict travel or bring in new rules at short notice, for example due to a new covid variant".

Sweden

As of April 1, people travelling to Sweden from the UK are no longer be required to present a negative covid test or proof of vaccination to visit Sweden.

The Maldives

The Maldives have scrapped all vaccine and covid test rules for travellers.
