A car bomb exploded outside a police station in Mexico's Zacatecas state on Sunday night, injuring six civilians and damaging the station and nearby properties, authorities said.

The blast took place in the town of Ojocaliente, where an explosive device had been placed inside a private vehicle.
"The explosive was placed in a private vehicle and caused physical damage to the station and properties located nearby," Zacatecas state government secretary Rodrigo Reyes said on Facebook.
In a separate post, Reyes said, "Six civilians have been reported wounded, who are receiving medical care."
Zacatecas is a key route in Mexico's drug trade, serving as a corridor for the smuggling of cocaine and other narcotics towards the United States. The state also connects central Mexico with the country's northern and western regions.
The state has faced years of severe drug-related violence, including killings, disappearances and bodies being found in public places.
In July, five people were found hanging from a bridge in the community of Pozos de Gamboa, about 75 kilometres from Ojocaliente. The victims included a former mayor, state employees and businesspeople from other parts of Zacatecas.
Authorities have not yet identified those responsible for Sunday's bombing or disclosed a possible motive.
